Hunger Grave Markers

Check here to see what Michael Blanch and others are saying about the campaign to give every Irish Hunger Victim a grave marker.

  1. Michael, I have been with you from the very start and agree with you. I was part of the AOH committee that erected the very first memorial in Ireland to the hunger victims on the road to Lahinch in Co. Clare across from a workhouse mass grave and as National Historian for the AOH in America I produced a DVD on the Hunger called ‘The Reason for Learning’ which I believe I sent you. We both know that there were many more than one million who died and sadly we may never know who they all were or where they all lie. How do you propose to list them for individual memorials or are you proposing one single memorial for them all, like the one one the road from Ennistymon to Lahinch?
