From: Claremorris, County Mayo Parish

A memorial stone was erected recently on the new road between the train station and Mount street, it is to commemorate the people who died in Claremorris Work House 1851 – 1918, the Mount Street Fever Refuge pre 1851 and unnamed infants who died in the community.

The ruins of the bacon factory is located on the Ballindine Road.

I hope this of some help to you.

  1. Are there any records of the people who lived here? We believe my 2nd Great Grandmother – Mary Hughes, died here in 1909.
