•The Irish American Cultural Institute (IACI) in Rochester, in association with St. John Fisher College, hosted an “Irish Gathering” to commemorate the “Great Irish Hunger” on May 19th;
•The day-long series of events included a mass for the Famine victims, a march to the AOH Famine Memorial and a seminar on the Great Hunger;
•Among the distinguished speakers were Dr. Donald Bain, President of St. John Fisher College, the renowned historian, Professor Christine Kinealy, Irish Studies Program Director, Dr. Tim Madigan, NUIG Fulbright Scholar, Mary Mc Partlan and event organizer and author Elizabeth Osta;
•The Eoin Mac Kiernan Award was presented to Consul General, Noel Kilkenny, who also addressed the seminar.
