Through contacts any of us may have can we ask for people to attend these meetings to make a point?

Point to be made:

The request made at the meeting can be: “Can I suggest that an effort is made to identify and clean up the graves of Victims of the Great Hunger (Famine). Many graves around Ireland are unmarked mass graves and some may be individual. Can we get this done in preparation for the return home of the descendants of the Victims.”

Of course, people can make this point in their own words but this is a great opportunity to get the word out for a very worthy effort to honor our ancestors.  Please contact friends in the towns listed below – there will be others as plans are to have meetings all over Ireland.

News on The Gathering

The Gathering Ireland 2013 is a people’s project. It’s about you, your family, your neighbours, your community, your sports club, your town and county. This is your chance to showcase the very best of Ireland by organising a special event and inviting home those with Irish connections to be part of it.

We’re asking everyone to get involved and over the coming months a Gathering Community Meeting will be held near you. Come along to find out more about The Gathering and how you can be part of it. Your Community Meeting is all about sharing ideas and working together to get the most from your gathering next year.

Be part of it

Here are details of the first of your Community Meetings. We will be kicking off in Roscommon at The Abbey Hotel on Wednesday June 6th. It will begin at 7pm sharp and all are welcome.
We will keep you informed as more meetings are confirmed so stay tuned for details of a Community Meeting happening near you.
