Subject: Commemoration Meeting

I attended the meeting at the Irish Consul General’s Office in Boston. Discussions were related to what will take place, and the times in the month of May.  There will be a follow up meeting to present us with information on the calendar of events. I will get back to you when I get the info.

  1. Hi Richard,
Please keep me up to date about the Boston memorial day events as they become available, As chair of Action Grosse ile and a Director of the Ireland Park Foundation in Toronto (the waterfront Famine memorial) I was at Grosse Ile and Toronto with Eamonn O Cuiv and Mary MacAleese in New York respectively. I will attend in Boston and represent Canada and Quebec. Jim Gallagher and myself were the Co-Chairs of the 1997 Commemoration on the 150th anniversary of 1847 (1500 people attended.) on Grosse Ile.
Best wishes for a successful commemoration in this New year! Slan!

  2. Please keep me informed. The Maine Irish Heritage Center in Portland would like to plan a commemorative event as well.
