Ceremony to Recognize Commodore DeKay

It is always good to recognize some special efforts that may not be widely known. The following relates to one of these efforts.

Ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of Commodore DeKay

The AOH Division 7 ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of Commodore George DeKay.

When: June 17,2011 – Time: 6PM

Where: St. George’s Church,  319 Front Street, Hempstead, N.Y. 11550

Commodore DeKay by an Act of Congress received two U.S. Navy War Ships to deliver food to Ireland during the famine. He passed away in 1849 and was buried right here in Nassau County and his spirit of caring, generosity and charity should be remembered. All are invited to attend.
