Remembering The Victims of An Gorta Mór With Practical Help For Those In Need Today
CICS member Kenny Stocks presented a donation check to Charles Sommer of St. Anthony’s Dining Hall in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district.
California Irish Cultural Society (CICS) second annual An Gorta Mór commemoration event was a huge success. The CICS hosted the commemoration event, by supporting a fundraising drive for San Francisco’s Saint Anthony’s Dining Hall.
The American committee for the commemoration of victims of the Irish Hunger (1845-1851) has undertaken to support the Irish Government Commemoration Committee’s annual commemoration activities and to encourage others to do so on May 21 – 22, 2011
Kenny Stocks of the CICS was overwhelmed by the support of the San Francisco Irish community for this years commemoration. “I would like to thank the everyone in the San Francisco Irish community who donated to Saint Anthony’s Dining Hall. ” Stated Stocks.
Last year, St. Anthony Dining Room located in the Tenderloin, served 950,000 meals. The dining hall is located at 45 Jones Street. Meals are served from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
