Subject: Women of Achievment

Dear Editor,

I would like to nominate Lynn Rogers as your Woman of Achievement.

Her work has put Staten Island in it’s proper place as one of the most important locations in American history. Many immigrants came to your area and helped build this country.

The tragic history of the Irish immigrants, who came here seeking refuge from starvation and tyranny, has been made known by her great work in protecting their remains and honoring their memory. She is presently involved, with others, in having a memorial built for them near the location where they first landed in America

Her perserverance, in overcoming governmental bureaucracy for 7 years, in honoring these victims of the Great Hunger 1845-51 is outstanding and should be recognized.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

J. William Fahey, President

American Comm. for the Commemortion of Victims of the Irish Hunger, 1845-51.

Lynn Rogers

Friends of Abandoned Cemteries Staten Island

158 MyrtleAvenue

Staten Island, NY 10310
