Irish Hunger Committee

This is the blog of the AMERICAN COMMITTEE FOR THE COMMEMORATION OF VICTIMS OF THE IRISH HUNGER (1845-1851) which has been established to create awareness of  the National Famine Memorial Day. This day of remembrance has been established by the Irish Government to honor the victims of the Irish Hunger. It is planned to hold a special event in Ireland with a parallel international event. The Irish event for 2010 will be in Murrisk, County Mayo and the international event is planned for New York.

  1. Good day! Can you please tell me what day of the year the National Famine Memorial Day will be? I am looking to organize some big events in the US in remembrance of those lost during this period.

    Thank you for your time!

  2. Details of the official commemoration date has not been published yet. However, events are being planned and will be noted here as details come in. Two such events, and their dates, are in the current posts – Feb 5, 2011
